My research focuses on questions in metaethics – for example whether there are objective moral facts, and how our minds engage with them. I also do historical work on figures like Nietzsche, and research in core areas of analytic philosophy to defend a broadly naturalistic or scientific conception of reality.

My best-known paper outside academia is "Possible Girls", which explains how to have a romantic relationship with someone in another possible world. Written back in the summer of 2003, it later became the topic of Valentine's Day articles in Vox and the Washington Post!
