TEACHING INTERESTS
As a teacher, I focus on crafting learning experiences and learning environments. For me, this means particularly that my courses integrate opportunities for students to co-create their learning along with me as teacher and their fellow classmates. I also believe it’s important to have some practical takeaways from each module. So, my courses each include opportunities for students to develop qualitative methodological skills (ethnography, autoethnography, storytelling and environment/object centered methods). I am also committed to cultivating her teaching, leadership and social justice skills to make the university experience fruitful, safe and inclusive for all students. To this end, I have received certificates in teaching and diversity including: the University Teaching Certificate Program (UCR), the Making Excellence Inclusive Diversity Certificate (UCR), and the multi-institutional Online Networked Learning Certificate. My teaching style is inspired by learner-centered, blended/multi-modal, transformative, feminist and emancipatory directions.
