I am a Lecturer in Theatre, Performance and the Humanities at NUS College. I teach the Global Narratives (NGN) common curriculum course as part of an interdisciplinary teaching team. I also teach NHS2070: Tragedy, Culture, and Society, a Humanities & Social Sciences elective that focuses on how societies respond to crisis (including geopolitical conflicts, environmental degradation and global pandemics), and the role of art in representing and recuperating collective trauma. Over the summer, I run GEx Bangkok - Kuala Lumpur, a four-week experiential programme on intangible cultural heritage (focusing on food, architecture and the performing arts). 

Supported by an NUS Research Scholarship, I completed my PhD in Theatre Studies at the National University of Singapore. I received both my undergraduate degree in English Literature (with First Class Honours) and Master's degree by Research in Renaissance Literature (with Distinction) at the University of Edinburgh, UK. 

My research focuses on the performativity of gender in stagings of Shakespeare's plays by Asian theatre practitioners, particularly the ways in which gender is a central modality through which these practitioners engage in intercultural negotiations with Shakespeare and his legacy. My first monograph, the first (and so far, only) full-length study of gender performance in East and Southeast Asian Shakespeare productions, is titled Towards Intercultural Feminism: Gender in Asian Shakespeare (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025). More broadly, I am interested in theatre and performance studies, the political economy of heritage, and trauma theory. 

I am Assistant Director of the Asian Shakespeare Intercultural Archive (A|S|I|A), a multilingual digital repository of theatre productions and data on performances of Shakespeare in East and Southeast Asia. I hold lifetime membership in the International Shakespeare Association (ISA). I am also an Associate Member of the Inter-Asian Engagement Research Cluster at the Asia Research Institute (2025-2027).
