RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research lies at the intersection of family and social networks, dietary and food environments, and digital health communication in Asian and migrant communities, with a focus on NCD prevention and management.
1. Family, household, and social network dynamics in shaping diet, chronic disease management, and healthy ageing, using mixed methods, egocentric social network analysis, longitudinal cohort analyses, and participatory qualitative and visual/mapping-based approaches.
2. Dietary behaviors and food environments, with a focus on sodium reduction, home cooking and shared meals, and cardiometabolic risk in Asian and migrant populations, drawing on survey, cohort, and intervention studies, with attention to health equity across immigrant communities in high-income countries and populations in low- and middle-income countries.
3. Digital and conversational technologies for health, including mHealth, chatbots, social media, and group chat–based interventions that embed family and peer support into prevention, self-management, and care, guided by implementation science and realist perspectives.
