Dr Darryl Ang is a Research Assistant Professor at NUS Nursing (Primary), Yeo Boon Khim Mind Science Centre (Joint) and a Nurse Reseacher at the National University Hospital. Prior to his current position, Dr Ang completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Tokyo, supported by the Ministry of Education’s Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent award and the NUS Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Dr Ang’s teaching, clinical, and research interests focuses on developing and evaluating public health palliative care interventions. Drawing on his dual roles in academia and clinical research, he works closely with healthcare teams to translate evidence into practice and improve the quality of care for patients and families facing serious illness. He has pioneered culturally contextualized models of informal death conversation programs for the Asian populations, including Die-Logue and the Educational Death Cafe. He currently leads a portfolio of grant-funded studies examining the impact of these initiatives among community-dwelling adults in Singapore and Japan. In recognition of his research excellence, mentorship, and leadership, he was awarded the NUS Medicine Outstanding Research Fellow Award in 2025.

Committed to evidence implementation and translation, Dr Ang has led multiple initiatives to enhance clinical practice, including nurse-led communication and handover interventions to improve cancer care. This work was recognised with the National University Health System Prestige Award (Quality Improvement and Patient Experience) Recognition Award.

As an educator, Dr Ang contributes to undergraduate nursing education and actively mentors undergraduate and postgraduate students in research. Under his advisory, students have published in high-impact journals, presented at international conferences, and received competitive academic awards. He has also developed and evaluated resilience-focused programmes, including the Resilience Skills Enhancement (RISE) programme and the Interactive Mental Wellness (I-AM-WELL) programme, which have been integrated into the undergraduate nursing curriculum.

Internationally, Dr Ang serves as Board Member and Secretary of the Asian Oncology Nursing Society. He is also an Associate Editor of the JBI Evidence Implementation and an Editorial Board Member of BMC Nursing, and contributes extensively as a peer reviewer for leading international journals in nursing, medicine, and education.
