Darryl has contributed to a variety of undergraduate nursing modules, including NUR1110A Communications and Cultural Diversity, NUR2124 Health Promotion in the Community, NUR3119 Palliative and End-of-Life Care, NUR3118 Consolidated Clinical Simulation Nursing Practice, and NUR3202C Research and Evidence-based Practice. He has experience in teaching lectures, tutorials, laboratory simulations and using different forms of teaching methods. Under the guidance of experienced educators, he has contributed to the development of tutorial materials, and examinations. 

Darryl’s philosophy in teaching is tied to the work of John Dewey, whose notion about thinking is inquiry, inquiry is life and life is education. Adopting the constructivist approach, he advocates for students’ active learning and experiential understanding. In the module NUR1110A Communication and Cultural Diversity and NUR3119 Palliative and End-of-Life Care, he incorporates case studies during tutorials to allow students to appreciate the application of palliative care nursing competencies in an actual setting. He uses role-play and simulation techniques to reenact potential scenarios as a strategy for students to apply their newly acquired skills.

He also harnesses the use of technology in supporting students’ learning. In line with the theory of online learning, he provides students with various learning engagement tools. For instance, the use of videos, reading materials and multiple-choice questions can target different type of learners.
