Brenda S.A. Yeoh FBA is Distinguished Professor, Department of Geography, and Migration and Mobilities Cluster at the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore (NUS). Having made important contributions to the field of migration and transnationalism studies, she was awarded the Vautrin Lud Prize for outstanding achievements in Geography in 2021. For her contributions and public service in Singapore, she was awarded the Public Service Medal, National Day Award, in 2022 and Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2015.

She is the Honorary Advisor to the International Association of Migration Linguistics, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.

Professor Yeoh FBA also currently serves as a member of several international professional bodies, including the International Advisory Committee of the Institute of Advanced Study, Warwick Medical School; Research Institute of Global Chinese and Area Studies (RIGCAS), Huaqiao University; International Advisory Board of Urban Sanctuary, Migrant Solidary and Hospitality in Global Perspective; the Sixth Asian Population Association (APA) Council; The British Academy; Scientific Council, Global Research Institute of Paris (GRIP), Universié de Paris; Migration Research and Publishing High-Level Adviser, International Organization of Migration (IOM); Council of the United Nations University; Centre for Global Migrations, University of Otago; Asian Pathways Research Lab; and Wittgenstein Centre for Demography and Global Human Capital Scientific Advisory Board.

She sits on various boards and committees in Singapore, including, The World Cities Summit Urban Resilience Knowledge Council; National Museum of Singapore Advisory Board; Mandai Park Holdings Environmental Advisory Panel; National Council on Problem Gambling Panel of Assessors; CityScan Steering Committee; and ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute Board of Trustees. She currently chairs the Advisory Board of the Center for Aging, Research and Education (CARE) and the Heritage Advisory Panel (HAP), National Heritage Board. She is co-deputy chair of the Core Academic Panel on a revamp of the Glass Rotunda, National Museum of Singapore. In 2017, she received the Friend of MSF Award from the Ministry of Social and Family Development.

Within NUS, she is on the Management Boards of East Asia Institute and Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS). She is also on the Board of Directors for NUS Press.

Within the Geography department, Professor Yeoh FBA is a member of the Critical Social/Cultural Geographies Group. Her research interests include the politics of space in colonial and postcolonial cities and she also has considerable experience working on a wide range of migration research in Asia, including key themes such as cosmopolitanism and highly skilled talent migration; gender, social reproduction and care migration; migration, national identity and citizenship issues; globalising universities and international student mobilities; and cultural politics, family dynamics and international marriage migrants. She has published widely in these fields.
