RESEARCH INTERESTS
Long term research programme
My research focus is on workplace safety and health (WSH) management, especially in the built environment. I strive to understand the nature of workplace safety and health incidents and devise interventions and tools to improve safety and health performance of workplaces. WSH cannot be separated from management processes, and the relationships are especially complex in projects. Hence, I also study ways to improve project management and workforce training and education.
Specific research programmes:
1. WSH analytics and machine learning - Use machine learning, video analytics, predictive analytics and text analytics to advance WSH management
2. Education and training - improve effectiveness of education and training through different technology such as digital simulation game-based learning and adaptive learning
3. Design for Safety (DfS) - improve upstream risk management processes or DfS through knowledge and AI-driven technology and approaches
4. Safety culture and safety climate - improve WSH performance developing better ways to measure safety and DfS climate and culture
