SR Joey Long is associate professor of history at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he has taught since 2015. He received his PhD in history from the University of Cambridge, his MA from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), & his BA with honors from NUS. Before joining NUS, Long was the director of the history program at NTU. He was also previously an assistant professor at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, & a visiting history & public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC.

Long's research interests are in the cold & hot wars in post-WWII Southeast Asia, the history of American foreign relations with Asia, the history of Singapore, & Asia-Pacific security. In addition to articles published in Contemporary Southeast Asia, Diplomatic History, European Journal of International Relations, Journal of Southeast Asian Studies, South East Asia Research, & a number of edited volumes, Long is the author of Safe for Decolonization: The Eisenhower Administration, Britain, & Singapore (2011) & co-editor of From Far East to Asia Pacific: Great Powers & Grand Strategy 1900-1954 (2022).

Fellowships & awards he has received include a Fulbright Grant, the Lawrence Gelfand-Armin Rappaport Fellowship from the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations, & the Holland Rose Trust Award from the University of Cambridge. He has also received the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award as well as the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award.
