I am a Senior Research Fellow at Duke-NUS Medical School, where I have been working for over five years in the Emerging Infectious Diseases Programme. My research focuses on novel pathogen discovery and detection by NGS and machine learning, pan-sarbecovirus vaccine development, and bat coronavirus discovery and serological investigation in South East Asia and worldwide. In addition, I am applying scRNA-Seq and spatial transcriptomics to study bat aging and immunology. I have published multiple papers in prestigious journals, such as Lancet Microbe, NEJM and Cell, and contributed to the understanding of the origin and evolution of SARS-CoV-2 and related bat coronaviruses.

I have a strong background in Bioinformatics. I am proficient in using applied machine learning in Python and R programming for NGS and clinical data analysis, and have extensive experience in using HPC/Cloud computing. I also have skills in Molecular & Cell Biology, Molecular Genetic skills, and Developmental Biology, which I acquired during my previous PhD research at the National University of Singapore. I enjoy collaborating with researchers across the world, including South East Asia, China, Europe, Africa and USA, and I am passionate about advancing the field of infectious disease research and public health.
