BIO
I'm an anthropologist by training, with a background in philosophy and cultural studies. For the last 20 years, my research has been concerned with the politics of cultural production in the Middle East, with a specific emphasis on the relation of contemporary art and politics in Palestine/Israel. More recently, my research has turned to the epistemic politics of artistic research among contemporary art practitioners in Indonesia.
I'm excited to work with students on a variety of art and design-related projects in Singapore and in Southeast Asia. I also encourage everyone to look into my course, Social Design and Worldmaking in Singapore (NHS2057), where we turn the classroom into a design studio to investigate the intersections of design and anthropology, and experimental collaborations of worldmaking.
